#26: Resilience

This issue is about how uncertainty and sudden change (from the coronavirus) highlights why businesses need resilience in the sense of

  1. Being flexible enough to change business models quickly,
  2. Having loyal customers who trust the business even when it switches to a new offering,
  3. Having a deep understanding of what customers need and want.

This kind of resilience is a resource with no predefined form—and developing this kind of resilience is an adaptive strategy for uncertain times and uncertain futures. As an aside, many of the businesses that seem resilient in this way are clear about what they value and therefore are small and quality-oriented by choice, not necessity.
