This issue is about why my book, The Uncertainty Mindset: Innovation Insights From the Frontiers of Food, which (unsurprisingly) is about the uncertainty mindset, took ten years to write and get published—including the usual trials of getting conventional publishers interested in non-standard books aimed at multiple audiences, escaping to a city where I didn't know anyone and didn't have regular internet access to get the first draft done, the tedium of editing and rewriting, problems with fieldsites and confidentiality agreements, looking (unsuccessfully) for an agent, and the theory and practice of indexing.
